How long does the installation take?
What if the installation does not start automatically?
What should I expect during the installation?
Where is the serial number?
How do I install to a different drive?
What is the .NET Framework?
When I start the installation, I get an error that says I need Windows 98. My computer has Windows 98. What gives?

How long does the installation take?
It depends on the speed of your computer. Quilt Design Wizard™ uses a special Microsoft Windows® component called the .NET framework that is required for Quilt Design Wizard™ to run properly. If your computer does not already have this component, then it will be installed automatically for you. For this reason, the installation may take up to 30 minutes (or more) for processors of 500 MHz or less.

PLEASE BE PATIENT AND DON’T STOP OR CANCEL OUT OF THE INSTALLATION PROCESS.

What should I expect during the installation?
The installation program will search your computer for the existence of the .NET framework. If it is not found, it will install the .NET framework. You will be required to reboot. This reboot may take a long time because it will be updating your operating system files. Then the Quilt Design Wizard™ installation will begin. You will be required to enter your name and a valid serial number before it begins installing the files. You’ll be required to reboot again at the end of the installation.

Where is the serial number?
The serial number can be found on the CD envelope.

How do I install to a different drive?
During the installation, you’ll see a Choose destination location dialog.
To change to a different location:
1. Click the Browse button. You’ll see the Choose Folder dialog.
2. To change Drive letters, click the down arrow under Drives: and click on the drive letter where you want to install Quilt Design Wizard™.
3. The drive letter will then appear in the Path: typing box.
4. Now the important step is to remember to type a folder name. Click to place the cursor in the typing box and type QDW (or any folder name you want). In this example we are installing to the P drive in a folder called QDW.
5. Click OK.
6. When you click OK, you may see the following message box:
7. Click Yes. You do want to create the folder called QDW. You can title the folder whatever you like, but it is important to always put the files into an existing folder or create a new one as we did here.
8. Next you will see the original dialog box. Notice that the Destination folder is the one you just requested.
9. Click the Next button.
Note: Sometimes you may have enough disk space on the drive you’ve chosen to install to, but you don’t have enough disk space on the C drive, or root drive. It is recommended to free some space on the C drive to allow the setup to uncompress files temporarily and run the setup successfully.

What is the .NET Framework?
The Microsoft .NET Framework is a new platform from Microsoft for development of products for Windows. In order to provide you with the most powerful applications, we have chosen to use the most powerful tools currently available to Windows developers, the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Quilt Design Wizard™ requires this component to run, so the .NET framework must be installed on your machine in order for it to operate properly. In the future you will find more and more applications that use .NET, so installing it now will mean you will be ready for these other programs as well.
