Getting Started

Getting Started - p. 14 - Image Labeled Steps 29-30
The book was published before the Palette Library's Clear Fabric Sketchbook box could be updated. We actually gave you more choices for more control than what is pictured in the book. You will notice that "delete only unused fabrics" is still one of your choices. In Step 29, you can either set it to "delete only unused fabrics" or "delete all existing fabrics" to get the correct result.

Getting Started - p. 28 - 29
Because the patch is resized after the quilt is named, EQ5 thinks it is a new quilt. Your printout from page 29 therefore says "Unnamed" at the top.

To have your quilt name show up at the top of the printout, make sure you "Resize the Patch" (steps 37-38), then "Name a Quilt" (32-36), then "Print the Quilt" (39-44).

Getting Started - p. 47 - Image Labeled Step 32
Be sure you use the arrow left-pointing arrow from the colorway arrows and not the scrollbar.

Getting Started - p. 64 - Step 78
Click the 10th irregular grid layout, not the first. (The quilts were reorganized after the book was printed.)

Getting Started - p. 83 - Step 131
The associated picture should be of the Bezier tool not the Bezier Edit tool .

Design Cookbook

EQ5 Design Cookbook - p. 14 - Extra Tip
If you have multiple mailboxes in Eudora or Outlook and you get an error message, try opening the correct mailbox first, then do Send Mail.

EQ5 Design Cookbook - p. 49
Don't resize content layers was added for more control of Custom Layouts and Layers 2 and 3 after the book went to print. Here is the explanation for "don't resize content layers."

EQ5 Design Cookbook - p. 80 & 82 - Step 4
This step should read: On the General tab, in Block Size, click insdie the Horizontal and Vertical boxes and type in the block size you want.

EQ5 Design Cookbook - p. 106 - Step 2
Step 2 can be simplified to read "Drag a box aroun the area you would like to magnify."

EQ5 Drawing

EQ5 Drawing - p. 111 - Step 2
The vertical Graph Paper division is incorrect. It should say, Vertical = 8. The illustrations are all correct, just the vertical number is wrong.

EQ5 Drawing - p. 183 (two related things)

  1. The first illustration (for steps 26 & 27) at the top of the page shows nodes incorrectly established. Users should delete the arcs BEFORE they save the block to the Sketchbook. This may be confusing if you depend on the illustrations as much as the instructions.
  2. Step 29 and 30 should be reversed. You are not supposed to Save in Sketchbook until AFTER the arcs have been deleted. If you these steps are reversed as they are in the book, nodes will be established as in the incorrect illustration for 26 & 27 as described above.

EQ5 Drawing - p.205
In the first paragraph on this page, the last sentence in parentheses, refers to an illustration that was not included in the book.

Help, I can't get to the secret page.
There are two things to check for when you type the address into your browser.

  1. Barb's last name is Vlack. So make sure you are typing in a "v" and not a "y" for Barby.
  2. Be sure the slashes are going the correct way. (http://www.electricquilt.com/...)
